Marie Amutan is the Environmental Health & Safety Specialist II at Texas A&M University Higher Education Center at McAllen (HECM). She supports the Texas A&M University Environmental Health & Safety department with maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment in all laboratories at the center. Marie earned her Associates in Biology and Bachelor’s of Science in Organizational Leadership along with her Masters of Business Administration. Marie's laboratory experience began in 2015 at South Texas College as a work study student in the biology department and made her way to becoming a Laboratory Specialist in 2017. From 2020 to 2025, Marie supported the Higher Education Center at McAllen with managing and coordinating support for science and engineering laboratories at its first building location. In late 2025, she joined Texas A&M's Environmental Health & Safety team to help oversee laboratories for all facilities at the HECM. In her free time Marie enjoys exercising, reading, and spending the weekends at the beach with her family.
